Make It a Vacation!

We hope that all of you will make a mini-vacation out of coming to our wedding. Napa is beautiful in August, and there is so much to do! Below are just some ideas and recommendations for you.

Spas for Massages, Mud Baths, and More...

One of Napa's favorite relaxations is its many spas. I'm not much of a spa person.. but I did do a mud bath up in Calistoga once - soaking in hot, wet dirt is something everyone should try at least once! Many of the hotels have their own spa services - Auberge du Soleil, Silverado, Villagio Inn, Marriott Napa Valley, Meadowood, Harvest Inn... you can always make a spa appointment at these places even if you aren't staying there, but there are also plenty of other spa facilties -
  • The Spa at Silverado - If you're staying at Silverado, there's no excuse not to sign up for a massage or body treatment! Check out the site for details and pricing on all sorts of services - Tui Na Massage, Couples Massage, Chardonnay Sugar Scrub, Olive Oil Body Polish, Lavender Mint Clay Wrap, and much more!

  • Health Spa Napa Valley - All types of treatments - Swedish Massage, Healing Stone Massage, Grapeseed Mud Wrap, Seaweed Wrap, European Facials, and much more.

  • Golden Haven Hot Springs - Up in Calistoga about a half hour from our wedding location, you can experience a Calistoga mud bath for couples and Calistoga hot springs mineral water. You can book hotel rooms here as well if interested.

Golf, Golf, Golf!

And of course, there are some amazing golf courses in Napa and around the Bay Area. A group of us will be playing at Silverado on Friday, but if you want to play some additional courses - there's lots to choose from!
  • Silverado Golf Resort - There are two Robert Trent Jones, Jr. courses here. I've never played the courses.. and Jason thinks he has.. but it's one of the top courses in Napa. It's about a 25 minute drive from our wedding site. $175 green fees.

  • Chardonnay Golf Club - Chardonnay Golf Club is a 27-hole golf facility located about a half hour from our wedding site. All three 9-hole courses meander through 130 acres of Chardonnay and Merlot Vineyards and feature numerous lakes and creek crossing. I've played this course several times, and it's another great course. Green fees are $79.

  • Vintner's Golf Course - This is a nice 9-hole course in great shape that you can play through twice. Greens fees are $45 per person. It's about 10 minutes from our wedding site.

Wineries and Wine Tasting

Here's a list of some of our favorite wines and wineries:
  • Stag's Leap - Jason is a member here, and he's got tons of Stag's Leap wines. If you do one wine tour, I think this is the one to do - it's an amazing facility with lots of artistic elements. Click for wine tasting and tour information.

  • Joseph Phelps - Jason is a member here as well. You'll need to make an appointment for tours and tastings. They have a great little picnic area - you can stop off at Dean and Deluca, pick up some bread and cheese, sandwiches, etc., and bring it with you to enjoy there. Click for wine tasting and tour information.

  • Peju - We have several bottles of Peju in Jason's wine collection. Good stuff... we opened a bottle for his birthday this year! Click here for wine tasting and tour information.

  • Hartwell Vineyards - The Hartwell Miste Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is my favorite wine. At $55 a bottle, it's not outrageously expensive, but it's sooo good. Tours are $35 per person and by appointment only, but the tasting is paired with wonderful cheeses and truffles. Wine tasting and tour information available on the website.

  • Merryvale - New Wine & Food Pairing Basics - "The old food and wine paring rules still apply, but there's a lot more creativity this time around. Enjoy a tour of the historic winery and refresher on winemaking before settling in the Cask Room to learn complementary pairings - tasting different Merryvale wines with different foods."

They only have these sessions once a month, and you're all in luck... they have a session at 10:30am the morning of our wedding day. Cost is $15 per person. There are 20 spots available... so if anyone is interested, let me know and I'd be happy to coordinate!
